Explanation and Application

SOLAR CORD is used in the firing of non-electric detonators, in the ignition of capsule-sensitive explosives, and in pre-cutting and post-cutting applications. It is an ignition element with a core of PETN, woven with synthetic textile products, and covered with a waterproof PVC material on the outer shell, making it flexible. When ignited, it detonates at a speed of 6,500-7,000 m/s. Detonating fuses are classified according to the amount of PETN in their content.

Advantages

Due to its PVC-coated outer material, it is protected from all environmental conditions, and it has high tensile strength. It is unaffected by static electricity and friction, except for direct lightning strikes. If feeding is to be done from several different points within the same hole, it can be used appropriately. A delay can be added if desired, using delay relays.

Usage Recommendations

SOLAR CORD can be directly placed into the feed for use. The detonating fuse should always be cut with a sharp knife, and should not be cut with tools like scissors or wire cutters that can cause metal-to-metal contact. It should never be transported with capsules. It can ignite both electric and non-electric capsules. Fuse ends should be kept away from oil and moisture, and connections should be made at least 15 cm away from the open end of the fuse. No knots should be formed on the fuse, and to avoid the risk of cutting, fuses should not touch each other during connection. The ignition detonation should come from at least two points on the fuse. This will reduce the risk of misfire.

Storage

Explosives must be stored in accordance with the “Regulations on Hunting Materials and Similar Items Relating to Explosives Excluded from the Monopoly” under Decision No. 87/12028. For best results, store in a well-ventilated, approved explosive material depot, under moderate temperatures and dry conditions. If stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated explosive depot, the shelf life of SOLAR CORD is 3 years from the date of manufacture. However, exposure to extreme heat or cold weather conditions may cause the product to deteriorate early.
